Previewing the 2019 Acura MDX A-Spec

With all the attention paid to the 2019 Acura TLX A-Spec and the 2019 Acura RDX, another important upcoming model isn’t getting its fair share of the spotlight. The 2019 Acura MDX A-Spec deserves a closer look than the cursory nod it got at the New York International Auto Show. Here’s a deeper dive ahead of its arrival at Hall Acura Virginia Beach.

There are some features in this new Acura model that are common among all Acura MDX models. Among a long list of standard equipment, you’ll find AcuraWatch™ driver assist features like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and road departure mitigation. You’ll also find the same 3.5-liter V6 engine and nine-speed transmission for the gear heads, and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® for techies.

With so much shared among models, you may be wondering what sets the Acura MDX A-Spec apart. It starts with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, a torque vectoring system, special exhaust finishers, and chrome surrounds for the headlights. It continues through the bespoke front fascia (exclusive to A-Spec models) and the special ten-spoke 20-inch Shark Grey alloy wheels.

Climb inside and you’ll find more special features. These include black or red leather seats with contrast stitching, model-specific gauges and sport pedals, and a thicker steering wheel with integrated paddle shifters.

The next few years will find A-Spec trims available on all new Acura models. Before long, we’ll also see the return of the Type-S performance marque, which is a return to the Acura brand’s sporty roots.

We’re getting excited for the 2019 Acura models, and what they portend for the future — both for the brand as a whole, and for the Chesapeake customers served here at Hall Acura Virginia Beach. Visit us at 3200 Virginia Beach Blvd., today!
